UNDERWORLD

Image
Underworld (2003) September 27, 2020:   Camera Shots in Major Motion Pictures Assignment I chose the movie Underworld, which is the first of a series of 5 films. I chose this film because I really enjoy this series and I enjoy the majority of the movies directed by Len Wiseman. The shots I wanted to capture on my phone were terrible quality when I tried recording my TV, so I found most of them on Google to get the point across. This movie is filled with amazing  action and many different types of camera shots as well. I have 5 shown below.  This is part of the opening shot of Underworld. It is a long shot that establishes the setting of a gloomy city, presumably in Europe looking at the setting behind the main character Selene who is in the forefront of the shot. This scene foreshadowed the seriousness of what would be going on in the movie, as there was no sound except the sound of the rain and the bustling city, there was no dialogue between Selene and the characte...

Classmate's Camera Shots

Aniya Jefferson: The three shots I chose to comment on her blog were the extreme close-up, the tilt shot, and the low angle shot. 1. Extreme Close-up: This shot she took grasped the concept of an actual extreme close-up very well and I could feel the awkwardness and anxiety of the shot because it fixated so close for so long. 2. Tilt: This shot was a shot that made me feel very minute and small in comparison to the tree. She was able to emphasize the tree's height, which also made her seem very small in comparison.  3. Low Angle: This shot, like the tilt shot made me feel very small in comparison to her. More-or-less, this is a shot that evoked a feeling of defeat like when a superhero defeats a super villain. Emily Solis: 1.  Head-on shot: I really enjoyed how cute Woody was running up the stairs and watching it, I felt playfulness and innocence.  2. Eye-Level: The eye-level shot was adorable and radiated cuteness, wonder and innocent curiosity, which I very much enjoy...

Storyboard Assignment

This was a tilt shot that I could not do for very long because it was raining outside. It was simple to do, but I am realizing how much outside factors can affect the process of filming. This was a short and simple point of view shot that was not hard to make and the concept was pretty straightforward for it.  This is a pan shot, and this concept actually confused me a bit more than the others because I did not know how a proper pan shot was supposed to look.  This is a low angle shot that my subject made hard to capture because she didn’t want to take any more videos. This is also a simple angle and with the right equipment, could look amazing. This is a high angle shot that was easy to capture because nothing was moving. It was not at all complicated to do and I think is a better quality shot with the right equipment.  This is a head on shot, which was actually easier to capture than I thought it would be for me. It was simple to roll the ball and my phone did not knock...

Why I am taking this class...

Quite honestly, I did not know what this class was going to be, but I chose it because it sounded interesting. I have a goal to get my AICE diploma this year and this seemed like a very interesting class to choose in order to achieve that goal. I am excited to see what the year will bring for this class and what I will learn for future reference.
