Week 2 editing

I had lost my initial footage, so in a time crunch, I had decided to use a similar idea in this version of my filming process, however, it is different because it is me in the mirror instead of a whole separate demon that would've initially been shown in the mirror. I used the same exact video for reference on how to do this as the one I used previously in my first week of editing, which can be found in the post prior to this one. I still used Premier Rush on my phone just to have more convenient controls.

Week 1 editing

This week I had began my filming and used this video above  as a reference to how I wanted to execute my concept of putting a demon in the mirror, which would be fairly easy as I came to learn. First though, I began to compile my footage into Premier Rush on my phone, which is the mobile version of Adobe Premier Pro.

Movie opener First Cut

This filming experience has been a wild ride thus far. The first concept I had in mind did not work out for me, as I was to use a mirror in the hallway that wound up falling off the wall and breaking, and that happened to a second mirror. Then I unfortunately lost a large chunk of my opener, which was strange. Therefore, here I have a drafted concept of what I will most definitely polish up over Spring Break and will add sounds to as well to tie into my original idea.

Weeks 6/7 Filming

Week 6:  This week I attempted to film the original concept I had planned out with the character walking past the mirror in the hallway, but unfortunately my mirror fell and broke as I was filming, which was scary but ironic to my plot...  So instead, I began researching how to do a after effect mirror trick, where the reflection does its own thing, to still be close to the original plot. I will start testing this concept out more next week.

Week 4 (Filming)

This week, I started to figure out the lighting situation for the very first part of my opening scene. I was finding windows around the house for an extreme close-up every morning and found a good situation in one of the bedrooms. This is the result of it.  This is just a test photo to determine the lighting situation.  I also spent this week researching how to edit something Into a mirror to accomplish my goal of the demon in the mirror.

Preparing to Film

Actors: I do not currently have an actor so I will most likely have to do this myself by propping my phone up and filming that way.  Costumes: Since this takes place when the character first wakes up in the morning, I will use pajamas as costume. Props: I will use an old mirror as a prop for the mirror the character walks past, and a phone for an alarm. Location: I will film in my own house Dates/Times: I will Film in the morning time (7am-8:30am) On a few different days to see which clip I like better. - Tuesday 2/9/21 -Thursday 2/11/21 -Friday  2/12/21 Scripts: I do not have a script, as the diegetic sounds of the opening will be the most prominent in the scene, which is the voices the character hears before she wakes up. There will also be an alarm that goes off.  Film Equipment: My iphone SE

Initial Storyboard

In order to do this, I began to brainstorm the scariest type of horror film to me, which are the demonic/psychological films that truly scare me. From there I researched alternate names for "nightmare" to use as a title and came across the word "Gehenna," which is ultimately a place of misery and Hell-like, where unrepented souls linger. I began to construct a vision in mind that a girl would have access to Gehenna in her dreams, as she hold special spiritual gifts, and based my film opening context off of that idea.
